Little Black Bag is not the first company to try and bring together online shopping with social media. However whether it has discovered a winning formula is yet to be seen; I for one remain sceptical at best.
The concept is based on the Japanese 'lucky brand sale' where you get a lucky dip of luxury brand products at heavily reduced prices. You then have a period of time where you can swap items in your bag with others online, until you are satisfied with you products and the bag gets shipped to your door.
For me the combination of online shopping with instant connection to your social network offers huge potential. Websites which allow your friends to rate clothes you are thinking of buying are using these tools to offer something useful to their customers. Little Black Bag tries to make a game out of shopping, which in my opinion is asking far too much. Furthermore, you are intended to swap items with people you don't even know!
Perhaps I am pessimistic, too time constrained, too functional online, or just simply not the target market. However the list of brands mentioned on the site would suggest otherwise. And if this is so, I don't see them sticking around for long.
