Ford Fiesta Movement: Can Social Media Sell Cars?

Following our discussion in class about Ford's initiative to raise awareness for the Fiesta launch in the US, here is an article that discussed it in Oct 2009. (Before the actual introduction of the car).

In short, it shows that the impact on Ford's image was mainly positive at least in terms of PR, for having preempted that approach in the car industry. The comments below the article tend to confirm it even though there is a biais to tech-savvy readers on Mashable. Some people also hold their judgment and wait for the actual number of sales it would generate.

Ironically, they embedded the very same video of that girl ziplining in the amusement park, which we enjoyed so much in class ;). One of the comments echoes exactly what one of us said about the message it sends: " I saw the fiesta for 10 seconds in that video, followed by many minutes of annoying woman. I don’t get it…'.
